Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Med Surg FT Nights
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides basic patient care to patients in an assigned unit and assists professional nurses. The role includes taking and recording vital signs; observing, reporting, and recording patient condition; obtaining specimens; administering other treatments; and operating or helping operate mechanical devices. The PCT also meets patients’ physical comfort needs, reports emergencies, and administers emergency treatment. This position is with Nacogdoches Medical Center, which describes its team environment as focused on caring for patients and serving the East Texas community.
Requirements
- CNA, nurse aide experience, or currently attending a school of nursing.
- BLS certification; required certifications must be completed within three months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic patient care to patients in an assigned unit and assist the professional nurse.
- Take and record vital signs.
- Observe, report, and record patient condition.
- Obtain specimens and administer other treatments.
- Operate or assist in operating various mechanical devices.
- Meet patients’ physical comfort needs.
- Report emergencies and administer emergency treatment.
