About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the 2 West Observation Unit at Grand Strand Medical Center supports Registered Nurses in providing hands-on patient care and helps maintain a safe, welcoming environment. The role assists with daily patient needs, helps nurses monitor patients and carry out care plans, and contributes to comfort, dignity, and recovery. The position also supports clean, organized, and well-stocked patient areas and effective infection-control practices. Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date. Healthcare-related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support care and recovery.
- Provide non-medicated care, including dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices.
- Keep patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked.
- Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness.
- Communicate kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality.
- Support Registered Nurses with hands-on care, patient monitoring, and carrying out care plans.
