About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) works under moderate supervision of nursing and medical staff. The role assists patients with daily activities, observes and reports patient progress, obtains and records vital signs, collects specimens for laboratory tests, provides basic patient transport and housekeeping, measures and records intake and output and other measurements, assists with range of motion, and draws blood. This is a full-time, day-shift Medical Surgical PCT position in Harker Heights, Texas.

Requirements

• Obtain BLS certification within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
• Be competent to perform in at least two general areas of practice, cross-trained and cross-competent to cover more than one hospital service, role, or function.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or GED.
• Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
• Currently enrolled in nursing school.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities, including bathing, dressing, eating, and other activities of daily living.
• Observe patients’ progress and prepare and disseminate reports to Registered Nurses or other medical staff.
• Obtain and record patients’ vital signs.
• Collect specimens for laboratory tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and housekeeping duties.
• Measure and record patients’ intake and output and other measurements in accordance with unit routines.
• Assist patients with range of motion.
• Draw blood.
