Patient Care Tech (PCT) - Med Surg
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech assists professional nursing staff in providing basic care to adult patients, including vital signs, hygiene, and monitoring. The role measures and records patients’ intake, output, and temperatures (oral, auxiliary, and rectal), and promptly advises a supervisor of abnormalities. The Patient Care Tech documents care accurately and promptly in the electronic health record and enters orders and tests accurately and promptly in that record. The position also performs unit secretary duties as needed. It provides clinical and reception support and manages supply procurement, receipt, and storage for the unit as directed by the Charge Nurse and/or Director.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- Current AHA CPR card required.
Nice To Haves
- Completed CNA course preferred.
- Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
- Enrollment in a nursing program with one clinical class completed preferred.
