About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides basic patient care to patients in an assigned unit and assists the professional nurse. The role includes taking and recording vital signs; observing, reporting, and documenting patient condition; obtaining specimens; administering other treatments; operating or assisting with mechanical devices; meeting patients’ physical comfort needs; and reporting emergencies and administering emergency treatment. This patient care support role provides essential assistance and comfort to patients throughout their healthcare journey. The position is with Nacogdoches Medical Center, which describes a strong team environment and offers a comprehensive benefit package. Required certifications are to be completed within three months of employment.
Requirements
- CNA, nurse aide experience, or currently attending a school of nursing.
- BLS certification, to be completed within three months of employment.
Responsibilities
- Render basic patient care to patients in an assigned unit and assist the professional nurse.
- Take and record vital signs.
- Observe, report, and record patient condition.
- Obtain specimens and administer other treatments.
- Operate or assist in operating various mechanical devices.
- Meet patients’ physical comfort needs.
- Report emergencies and administer emergency treatment.
