PRN Patient Care Assistant PCA (Peds)
About The Position
The Northwest Arkansas Pediatric Clinic is seeking a PRN Patient Care Assistant (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to support pediatric patients and clinic staff. The role includes directing patients to exam rooms, obtaining vital signs, and documenting information in the electronic health record (EHR). The PCA assists nurses and physicians as directed, performs rapid laboratory tests, and conducts hearing and vision testing. The clinic is looking for someone available Monday through Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Northwest Arkansas Pediatrics, a MANA Clinic, provides care to children and families from infancy through adolescence. MANA is an independent physician group whose clinics are physician-owned and focused on compassionate, comprehensive, quality healthcare.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities
- Take vital signs and direct patients to the proper examination or treatment room.
- Ensure patient medications are up to date.
- Prepare patients for examinations and other procedures.
- Assist physicians with procedures as directed.
- Perform rapid laboratory tests, including urinalysis, hemoglobin, guaiac, strep and flu swabs, rapid COVID swabs, and COVID PCR.
- Perform hearing and vision testing.
- Document items in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Ensure Meaningful Use requirements are addressed and met as appropriately delegated to the check-in process.
- Review daily schedules to support productive clinic flow.
- Monitor charge tickets for updates to insurance, patient demographics, and related information.
- Assist nurses and physicians as directed.
