About The Position

Visiting Angels Lufkin is seeking compassionate Patient Care Assistants to support senior adults and others in need throughout Deep East Texas. The role provides companionship and a range of in-home support, including personal care, mobility assistance, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation. Caregivers may also pursue advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care.

Requirements

A passion for serving others and being a caregiver.
Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking, with attention to dietary constraints.
Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
Respectful and compassionate approach.
Experience assisting with bathing and incontinence care.
Experience transferring seniors using a Hoyer lift or gait belt.
Strong ethics.
Knowledge of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Two years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or with an agency, or CNA certification.

Responsibilities

Help clients take prescribed medication.
Assist clients with ambulation and mobility at home or outside, including transfers using Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, or wheelchairs.
Assist clients with personal care and hygiene, including bathing and incontinence care.
Help clients with routine exercises.
Plan and prepare meals with clients’ assistance when they are able.
Shop for clients or accompany them while shopping, including grocery shopping and trips to salons or medical appointments.
Perform light housekeeping duties clients cannot complete on their own.
Provide pleasant and supportive companionship.
Report unusual incidents.
Act quickly and responsibly in emergencies.
