About The Position

The Patient Attendant supports the professional nurse by observing patients and helping assure a safe environment. The role includes selected patient-care activities, maintaining patient safety through observation and intervention, communicating pertinent patient information, documenting patient behavior and activity, and taking responsibility for ongoing educational development. Other duties may be assigned or required.

Employees are expected to follow the ethical, legal, and behavioral standards in the company’s Code of Business Conduct and policies. The role may provide access to confidential customer information, which must be protected in accordance with HIPAA and company privacy and information-security policies. Employees must comply with applicable laws, company policies, and training requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate.
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate.

• Previous patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform selected patient-care activities, including accompanying patients to tests, physical therapy, or occupational therapy; staying in an assigned patient’s room and observing patient needs; and providing diversional activities.
• Observe patients to maintain safety, physically intervene when needed, and promptly communicate the need for additional assistance.
• Communicate pertinent patient data accurately and in a timely manner.
• Document patient behavior and activity according to policy, including medical or behavioral health needs.
• Assume responsibility for personal educational development.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Protect confidential customer information and comply with HIPAA, company privacy and information-security policies, the Code of Business Conduct, applicable laws, and training requirements.
