Business Office Patient Accounts Representative
About The Position
Harrison County Hospital is hiring a Patient Accounts Representative for its Business Office. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, from 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The role processes and follows up on patient accounts, answers account-related questions, handles correspondence about refunds and processing, and documents account activity. The representative is expected to communicate politely and clearly with patients and comply with HIPAA rules and hospital corporate compliance regulations. Harrison County Hospital is an acute care community hospital serving Harrison and Crawford counties in Indiana and Meade County, Kentucky. The hospital has served the community since 1950.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability to communicate with understanding and politeness with patients.
Nice To Haves
- Experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of the Meditech system, SSI, and Chartmax.
Responsibilities
- Process new bills daily.
- Follow up on previously billed accounts and correctly resolve reminders.
- Work collector queues and biller queues daily.
- Answer patient questions about accounts.
- Receive and answer correspondence concerning refunds and processing.
- Thoroughly document accounts in the system whenever an account is referenced.
- Communicate with patients with understanding and politeness.
- Follow HIPAA rules and hospital corporate compliance regulations.
