About The Position

Encino Hospital Medical Center, a member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation, is a 150-bed hospital in Encino, California, serving a diverse population through a wide array of inpatient and outpatient services. The Patient Account Registrar interviews patients or their representatives to collect demographic information and obtains insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable. The role works with all areas of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas, and uses a computer to enter and retrieve data. The registrar communicates with patients across age groups, from neonatal through geriatric, using age-appropriate techniques and maintains proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given with a specified completion timeframe. This is a full-time evening-shift position.

Requirements

Customer service experience.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.
High school graduate or GED equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative.
Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities
