About The Position

The Patient Account Registrar interviews patients or their representatives to collect demographic information and secures insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable. The role works with all areas of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas. The registrar uses a computer to enter and retrieve data, communicates with patients across age groups from neonatal through geriatric using age-specific techniques, and maintains proficiency in medical terminology. Special projects or other assignments may be given, with completion expected within specified timeframes. Encino Hospital Medical Center is a 150-bed hospital in Encino, California, with a multidisciplinary staff of 330 physicians and 520 professional support staff. It provides a range of inpatient and outpatient services to a diverse population.

Requirements

Customer service experience is required.
High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize needs to meet required timelines.
Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
