Patient Access Scheduling Coordinator (Hybrid)
About The Position
Serves as the coordinator of medical care and test referrals for the site. The coordinator schedules patient referrals to specialty, hospital, and ancillary providers in a timely and appropriate manner as requested by OMC medical providers. The role coordinates appointments, ensures the specialty or outside provider receives the patient’s medical and demographic information, notifies patients of appointments and any special testing requirements, and tracks patient compliance with referral appointments. This is a full-time, 40-hours-per-pay-period position, working Monday through Friday on an eight-hour day shift, with no weekends or holidays. The position is hybrid after a 90-day training period.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one year of work experience in an outpatient physician clinic required.
- Strong analytical and computer skills.
- Interpersonal skills to work with physicians, patients, and staff.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience with the referral and authorization process preferred.
- Knowledge of electronic medical records preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Knowledge of managed care preauthorization procedures preferred.
- General insurance knowledge preferred.
