About The Position

The Patient Access Representative gathers patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information and enters it into the appropriate database. The role seeks resources to resolve questions about the type, date, or location of prescribed procedures. It schedules patient procedures to make efficient use of patients’ time and clinical resources, and coordinates and communicates schedules. The representative also assists with insurance pre-certification and authorization activities and counsels patients, participants, or their representatives about pre-service requirements and instructions.

This full-time, night-schedule position is in the Rev Cycle - Admitting department at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast in Destin, Florida.

Requirements

• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• No required credentials.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient demographic, insurance, and clinical information and enter it into the appropriate database.
• Seek appropriate resources to resolve issues about the type, date, or location of prescribed procedures.
• Schedule patient procedures to efficiently use the patient's time and clinical resources.
• Coordinate and communicate schedules.
• Assist with activities related to insurance pre-certification and authorization.
• Counsel patients, participants, or their representatives regarding pre-service requirements and instructions.
