About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is seeking an onsite Patient Access Representative in Ukiah, California. The role is full-time regular, with an 8-hour variable shift. The representative is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, gathering pertinent account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, and obtaining required treatment signatures. The representative explains policies and answers questions, checks physician orders and attaches them to the appropriate patient record, prepares paperwork for distribution, and helps patients reach their destination or arranges an escort as needed. The position also involves selecting the correct health plan, researching insurance details to ensure accuracy, entering authorization information, and following guidance from senior staff. Other job-related duties may be assigned. Adventist Health requires associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Requirements

High school education/GED or equivalent preferred.
Associate’s/technical degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Register patients accurately and in a timely manner, and interview them to collect pertinent account information.
Verify insurance, choose the correct health plan, and research information to ensure accuracy.
Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment and explain policies while answering questions.
Check physician orders and attach them to the appropriate patient medical record to ensure the correct test is received.
Enter authorization information accurately as needed.
Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
