Patient Access Representative- Pediatrics (PT) Days

Adena Health•Chillicothe, OH
•Onsite

About The Position

The Patient Access Representative assists patients, clinic staff, and other clinical staff with scheduling, pre-registration, and registration for services at Adena Health System. Using established interviewing techniques, the representative gathers information in person, through EPIC, or by phone, including demographic, insurance, and financial information needed for billing and patient-account collection. The role also verifies precertification and authorization information and uses electronic tools to confirm active insurance coverage. The representative runs an estimate for each patient at each visit or by phone during pre-registration, obtains required signatures and documents, and scans documents into the imaging system. The position enters diagnoses and tests and checks orders for completeness and medical necessity. It interacts with clinicians in emergency, outpatient, and clinic settings to support timely care delivery. The representative is expected to work independently, multitask, prioritize work, communicate effectively, work well with others, and contribute to department goals. The caregiver must be comfortable collecting copayments, deductibles, and other amounts at the time of service. The posting also notes that Patient Access Representatives at AGMC answer incoming hospital switchboard calls and transfer them as appropriate; it does not state that this specific pediatric clinic position performs that duty.
