About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to work onsite in Ukiah, California, on a variable shift for eight hours. The role is responsible for timely, accurate patient registration and interviewing patients to gather pertinent account information. The representative verifies insurance, calculates and collects patient liability amounts, obtains required treatment signatures, and explains policies and answers patient questions. The role also checks physician orders and attaches them to the appropriate patient record, prepares and distributes patient paperwork, and escorts patients to their destination or refers them to an available escort.

Requirements

• High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
• Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and in a timely manner, and interview them to obtain pertinent account information.
• Verify insurance, select the correct health plan, research as needed to ensure accuracy, and enter authorization information.
• Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
• Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment and explain policies while answering patient questions.
• Check physician orders and attach them to the patient medical record to help ensure patients receive appropriate tests.
• Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
• Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
• Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
