About The Position

Piedmont Cancer Institute is seeking a full-time Front Office Patient Access Representative for its Atlanta location. The role supports a Hematology/Oncology practice by answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing daily charges and payments, and checking patients in and out. The representative helps patients navigate appointments and office procedures while contributing to a personable and caring environment.

Requirements

Data-entry speed of 8,000 KPH.
Familiarity with office equipment and computers, and internet literacy.
Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding and medical records.
Customer service skills.
Phone etiquette.
Ability to provide a personable and caring environment for patients.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
One year of customer service experience preferred.
One year of medical terminology experience preferred.
One year of computer skills experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming phone calls and route calls to the appropriate staff member when needed.
Check patients in by verifying demographic and insurance information.
Collect copayments and patient balances at check-in.
Schedule outpatient tests and other physician-ordered appointments at checkout.
Enter outpatient appointments into the computer and notify the precertification coordinator of authorization needs.
Obtain new-patient and consultation information to arrange appropriate appointments promptly.
Provide patients with appointment printouts.
Distribute incoming faxes and send outgoing faxes as needed.
Prepare and fax outpatient test orders with the appropriate diagnosis.
Contact patients to reschedule no-show appointments when applicable and document no-shows or rescheduling notes in the computer.
Complete other job-related tasks as required by the supervisor or manager.
