About The Position

This position greets customers and facilitates patient registration in a timely, professional, and courteous manner. The representative interviews patients or their representatives through face-to-face and virtual interactions to obtain demographic and financial information, providing Essentia Health with the documents and data needed for appropriate care and compliant, accurate patient registration and billing.

The position serves as a liaison between patients, Virtual Patient Registration Representatives, and Patient Schedulers. Responsibilities also include completing patient checkout, scheduling follow-up appointments according to physician orders, and providing patients with cost estimates and itineraries for upcoming appointments.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Patient Access Representative or Patient Scheduler experience.
• Complete Healthcare Business Insight’s Patient Access 2nd Level Certification Program within six months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients to obtain complete demographic details, financial information, and minimum health information needed to support appropriate care.
• Obtain copies of insurance cards and other identification, and update patient information in the medical record as necessary.
• Collect point-of-service information and payments, including identifying and collecting co-payments and down payments; reconcile the cash drawer and report daily deposit records associated with co-payment collections.
• Maintain assigned work queues according to supervisor instructions and guidance.
• Interact positively and in a caring manner with patients, co-workers, and others to provide a high level of customer service.
• Answer incoming phone calls, schedule appointments, and refer matters to the clinical team as needed.
• Sanitize registration equipment between each use and restock basic supplies.
• Complete patient checkout, schedule physician-ordered follow-up appointments, and provide cost estimates and appointment itineraries.
• Perform other clerical duties as assigned.
