About The Position

Adventist Health Ukiah Valley is hiring a full-time, regular Patient Access Representative for an eight-hour night shift, working onsite in Ukiah, California. The role is responsible for timely and accurate patient registration, interviewing patients to collect pertinent account information, verifying insurance, calculating and collecting patient liability amounts, and obtaining required treatment signatures. The representative answers questions and explains policies, checks and attaches physician orders to patient records, prepares paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department, and escorts patients or refers them to an available escort as needed. Adventist Health is a faith-based, nonprofit, integrated health system serving communities on the West Coast and Hawaii. The organization requires associates to receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter where applicable; medical and religious exemptions may apply.

Requirements

High school education, GED, or equivalent is preferred.
Associate’s or technical degree, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience, is preferred.

Responsibilities

Register patients accurately and promptly, and interview them to obtain pertinent account information.
Verify insurance, select the correct health plan, research information to ensure accuracy, and enter authorization information as needed.
Calculate and collect patient liability amounts.
Obtain all necessary signatures for treatment.
Answer patient questions and explain policies clearly.
Check for physician orders and attach them to the patient medical record to help ensure patients receive appropriate tests.
Print and collate paperwork for distribution to the appropriate unit or department.
Escort patients to their area or refer them to an available escort as needed.
Follow guidelines and instructions from senior staff.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
