About The Position

Serves as the face-to-face point of contact for patients at a hospital. Obtains the information needed to register and financially clear patients, greeting patients and family members and obtaining or verifying relevant details for service delivery. Enhances the patient experience through customer service at the point of service and by demonstrating knowledge of Sutter Health’s system and service offerings. This is a short-hour position with an 8-hour day shift on variable days, including Saturday weekend requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of recent relevant experience.
• General knowledge of patient access and financial counseling functions in acute and non-acute settings.
• Working knowledge of insurance and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of EMTALA and consent laws.
• Time-management skills and ability to handle frequent in-person patient contacts while maintaining and documenting registration data effectively.
• Ability to work accurately and efficiently across multiple computer systems, including patient registration/accounting systems, telephone consoles, document imaging and scanning, payment posting, payer websites, and data-quality monitoring.
• Verbal and written communication and active listening skills.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work concurrently on a variety of tasks or projects in a diverse environment.
• Ability to meet or exceed customer service, productivity, and quality standards.
• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
