About The Position

The Patient Access Representative II efficiently and accurately processes patient registrations, schedules appointments, and verifies insurance coverage. The role supports a positive patient experience and the hospital’s commitment to high-quality healthcare services by providing access to care in accordance with established policies, identifying payment sources, assisting with payment collection, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records. The position is part-time, 20 hours per week, in Evanston, Illinois. The schedule is a 3 p.m.–11:30 p.m. shift, every other weekend, and Mondays and Fridays, with rotating holidays. No travel is required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
One year of customer service experience in a healthcare- or health-insurance-related field required.

Nice To Haves

College degree preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology and insurance industry terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as an internal and external resource for customer groups by providing access to healthcare services in accordance with established policies.
Identify payment sources for services, assist with collecting payments, and refer patients or their representatives for financial counseling.
Maintain accurate electronic medical records and comply with internal and governmental or regulatory requirements.
Process patient registrations, schedule appointments, and verify insurance coverage.
