About The Position

Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization supporting patient care, research, teaching, and community service. The Patient Access Representative 1 helps ensure a smooth and efficient patient check-in and discharge process through customer service, collection and entry of patient information, insurance verification, explanations of policies and procedures, and responses to patient questions. This is a remote role requiring a quiet, secure, stable, HIPAA-compliant workstation. Working hours are Monday through Friday during Eastern business hours, with hours ranging between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Basic computer proficiency.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of experience in admitting, scheduling, registration, or insurance verification.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification procedures.

Responsibilities

Greet patients in a professional and friendly manner.
Collect and verify patient demographic and insurance information and enter information into systems.
Schedule appointments and confirm patient information.
Explain insurance and billing policies and procedures to patients.
Process payments and provide receipts.
Obtain pre-authorization for procedures as needed.
Handle patient questions, concerns, and issues, escalating complex or difficult situations to patient access senior staff or a manager.
