About The Position

This position is for a Patient Access Representative at Highlands Medical Center, a 170-bed hospital in Scottsboro, part of the Huntsville Hospital Health System. The role involves greeting the public, patients, and families, and accurately obtaining and entering demographic and financial information for all patient types. The representative is responsible for handling customer service issues, ensuring registration accuracy, and continually enhancing knowledge of administrative processes to train new and existing employees. They are also expected to show initiative in process improvement, collect required fees, and manage daily operations. The role requires flexibility to work various shifts, including alternate shifts, weekends, holidays, and being on call. Highlands Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission and offers a wide range of emergency, inpatient, and outpatient services.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • One year of previous work experience in other fields
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude
  • Effective time management skills
  • Efficiency and organizational skills with the ability to multitask

Nice To Haves

  • Two to three years of customer service/public relations/leadership experience
  • Two to three years computer experience
  • Previous medical record or billing experience
  • Ability to compile and analyze data
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

  • Greets the public, patients, and families.
  • Obtains and enters demographic and financial information for all patient types.
  • Handles all customer service issues in a customer friendly manner.
  • Accurately listens and responds appropriately to address and resolve issues at hand.
  • Ensures all paperwork is checked for registration accuracy.
  • Continually enhances knowledge regarding administrative processes in order to train new hires and existing employees.

  • Responsible for daily operations.
