Patient Access Rep-Imaging
About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Manager/Office Coordinator or designee, the Patient Access Rep-Imaging performs patient access duties to facilitate appropriate billing and optimal reimbursement in accordance with external regulations. The role includes transcribing orders, scheduling appointments, performing advanced registration functions, collecting co-pays, and maintaining work lists and work queues. It also includes a wide variety of reception duties and image access functions as part of the film library. The position is based at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The listed schedule is 24 flex 32 hours, with day-shift hours that vary. The pay range is $18.04–$29.05 per hour, determined based on experience.
Requirements
- Associate degree plus additional specialized training in film library, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Excellent customer service and telephone skills and etiquette.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with medical-based programs.
- Experience with electronic medical records, hospital patient registration systems, business office machines, and handling cash.
- Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal influenza and COVID-19, or qualify for an exemption for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying the choice to be exempt once hired.
Nice To Haves
- Medical Terminology Certificate desired.
- Prior work experience in a hospital or medical office practice setting in patient access, patient accounts, or customer service preferred.
- Microsoft Office desired.
- Over three years of related health care experience preferred, concentrating in radiology.
