About The Position

The Patient Access / Registration position is part of the Admitting Arrival team and is based in Radiology/MRI. The role is responsible for registering patients, collecting copayments, and obtaining accurate patient demographic, insurance, and liability information. It includes pre-registration of patient admissions, obtaining approvals and payments on site, explaining insurance and private-pay liabilities, referring patients who need financial counseling, updating patient information, posting payments, and completing reconciliation reports.

The position is full time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Training and orientation last two weeks, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and include training in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance.

Nice To Haves

• Patient access hospital experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete the pre-registration process for patient admissions.
• Obtain approvals and payments on site.
• Explain insurance and private-pay liabilities and appropriately refer patients who require financial counseling.
• Accurately enter and update patient demographic information, including insurance and patient liability information.
• Post payments to the appropriate screen and complete reconciliation reports.
