About The Position

The Patient Access / Registration Representative completes patient registrations and pre-registrations in the emergency department. The role obtains accurate demographic, insurance, and patient liability information and uses multiple department, hospital, and web-based systems. The position is full-time at 32 hours per week on the evening shift and includes every other weekend; shift and weekend differentials apply.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and interview skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency using computer systems and computer devices.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurance.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in an accredited hospital or physician's office is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete and accurate pre-registrations, registrations, and admission functions.
• Verify insurance requirements and obtain and understand insurance benefits.
• Ensure accurate entries concerning demographic, financial, and advance-directive information.
• Collect non-covered fees.
