Patient Access Associate
About The Position
The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and accurate registration. The associate explains the services patients are receiving, their financial responsibilities, and expectations while at the facility. The role provides excellent service to create a positive first impression for patients, families, and other external patients by phone or in person. It requires deductive reasoning and logic to resolve issues in complex, multi-payer situations. The position is located in Loves Park, Illinois, and works Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a Saturday rotation. The schedule is 40 hours per week.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
- Problem-solving, conflict-management, and time-management skills, along with good oral and written communication skills.
- Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.
Nice To Haves
- Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
- Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
