About The Position

As a Pathologists' Assistant within Anatomic Pathology, you will be responsible for performing gross dissection of surgical specimens and documenting findings under the direction of pathologists. Other responsibilities include: Performing gross specimen photography, Selecting tissue for appropriate ancillary testing, Procuring tissue for research protocols, Performing postmortem examinations and autopsy related duties including: abstracting clinical history, completing clinical summary and preliminary anatomic diagnosis, and previewing autopsy microscopy, Assisting with training of residents, fellows, and students, Assisting residents and staff with research projects. Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a master's level formal NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program is necessary.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, medical practices and human anatomy is required.
  • You will be required to attain PA Certification (ASCP) within one year of your start date.

  • Foreign trained lab personnel are required to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • DLMP employees that have been in current lab/position for less than 2 years must attach early release approval from supervisor.
  • Non-DLMP employees that have been in their current department/position for less than 1 year must attach early release approval from supervisor.
  • International transcript: MUST have a DETAILED equivalency evaluation.
  • MUST show US equivalent degree.
  • Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

Nice To Haves

  • American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) certification at the Fellow (F-ABMDI) or Delegate (D-AMBDI) level is preferred.
