About The Position

This role is an essential part of TriHealth’s Surgical Pathology and Cytology teams, primarily responsible for performing frozen microtomy on surgical specimens from various TriHealth surgical facilities (GSH, BN, Evendale, Anderson, Butler, and any future additions). The position also involves assisting with cytology procedures at these facilities, including slide staining and specimen preparation for send-out. The Anatomic Pathology Assistant II will work closely with pathologists, PAs, and histotechnologists, serving as a key liaison for TriHealth customers. The role requires managing complex assignments, maintaining exceptional accuracy, and applying strong judgment to ensure high-quality diagnostic support and compliance with OIG documentation standards, including accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry. Requirements

  • 1 year post High School Education in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, or Chemistry, OR 2 years of experience in pathology performing frozen microtomy and fine needle aspirate preparation.
  • Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.
  • 1-2 years’ experience Clinical in pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform frozen microtomy on surgical specimens obtained from various surgical facilities within TriHealth.
  • Assist with cytology procedures at TriHealth facilities, including staining slides and/or preparing specimens for send-out.
  • Assist pathologists, pathologist assistants, and histotechnologists in all related duties in Surgical Pathology.
  • Make and receive communications to/from customers of TriHealth.
  • Serve as a laboratory liaison for a variety of TriHealth customers.
  • Gather necessary data for service and billing.
  • Complete paperwork that meets compliance set by OIG, including accurate interpretation and transcription of physician orders and LIS/HIS order entry.
  • Demonstrate overall procedure knowledge and quality assurance knowledge, including documentation as needed.
  • Apply judgment skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Manage complex assignments received, delegated, and completed.
  • Ensure accuracy, quality, and completeness of work.
  • Prioritize, organize, and handle quantity of work.
