This Laboratory Supervisor role is specific to the Anatomic Pathology Department at Mayo Clinic. The supervisor will provide direct oversight of anatomic pathology operations, workflows, and staff. This is an exempt position requiring a 2-year commitment. The supervisor will function independently and collaboratively with laboratory leadership, performing staff supervision including hiring, termination, performance review, coaching, corrective action, and development of performance improvement plans. Responsibilities also include site operation oversight, implementing LEAN workflow principles and best practices, and potentially technical oversight of professional laboratory practice. The role may involve performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, acting as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results, and being responsible for instrument correlation and method validation. The supervisor will correlate data based on clinical knowledge and technical expertise, participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities, and assist with staff and student training, new employee orientation, procedure review and updates, and providing direction and problem-solving for laboratory functions. Standardization efforts in the laboratory are also part of the role. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.
