About The Position
As a Pathologists' Assistant within Anatomic Pathology, you will be responsible for performing gross dissection of surgical specimens and documenting findings under the direction of pathologists. Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in this position before becoming eligible to apply to other positions within Mayo Clinic. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship; Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program.
Responsibilities
- Performing gross dissection of surgical specimens and documenting findings under the direction of pathologists
- Performing gross specimen photography
- Selecting tissue for appropriate ancillary testing
- Procuring tissue for research protocols
- Performing postmortem examinations and autopsy related duties including: abstracting clinical history, completing clinical summary and preliminary anatomic diagnosis, and previewing autopsy microscopy
- Assisting with training of residents, fellows, and students
- Assisting residents and staff with research projects
- Actively partner with team members by fostering an inclusive work environment and respecting others with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives
