About The Position

The Party Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—inside a Michaels store, creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests. The role also provides friendly retail customer service, helps customers find products, supports checkout, and performs store operations such as truck unloading, stocking, merchandise recovery, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards. The position involves coordinating multiple events, demonstrating craft projects, facilitating activities such as face painting, arranging party add-ons, communicating with clients and store staff, completing administrative tasks, adapting events to client needs, and ensuring client satisfaction. The Party Host also supports sales and store programs, including Rewards and credit card enrollments, BOPIS and SFS processes, inventory and planogram activities, shrink and safety programs, and cross-training in Custom Framing. The job is in a public retail store, with some work in stock rooms or outdoors as assigned. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other events.
Engage guests of all ages and create an environment of fun and creativity.
Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects and perform face painting and other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
Answer emails, make phone calls, complete paperwork, and perform other event-related administrative tasks.
Adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs, and prepare backup or emergency plans.
Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events, while upholding cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers shop, locate products, and find solutions.
Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience.
Explain Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card benefits and complete enrollments.
Educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and planogram processes.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance, Store in Stock Optimization (SISO), and AD set duties as assigned.
Support shrink and safety programs and comply with company procedures, policies, standards, laws, and requirements.
Interact respectfully and positively with customers and coworkers, promote company values, and serve as a role model for other team members.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleaning, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining restroom cleanliness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
