About The Position

The Party & Events Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties and craft classes—within a Michaels store, creating a fun, creative, and stress-free experience for guests. The role includes demonstrating and instructing craft projects, face painting and other activities, arranging event add-ons, communicating with clients and team members, handling event administration, adapting plans to client needs, and ensuring event satisfaction. Hosts set up, break down, and clean event areas while upholding safety and cleanliness standards. The position also provides retail customer service, including helping customers find products and solutions, delivering friendly checkout, explaining the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and supporting store operations. Duties include assisting with BOPIS and SFS, truck unloading, stocking, planograms, merchandise recovery, SISO, AD set, shrink and safety programs, store cleanliness, and cross-training in Custom Framing sales and production. The role is based in a public retail store; hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings.

Requirements

Retail and/or customer service experience is required.
Experience working with children and children’s events is required.
Excellent people skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests of all ages and coworkers.
Energetic and enthusiastic personality; ability to handle job stress.
Good written, verbal, and nonverbal communication and listening skills.
Organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain standing for long periods and move throughout the store.
Ability to bend, lift, carry, reach, and stretch regularly; lift heavy boxes and access high shelves using a ladder or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate multiple events, including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other store events.
Create an engaging and creative environment for guests of all ages.
Demonstrate and instruct craft projects; provide face painting and other activities.
Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
Communicate event details with clients and store team members; complete event-related emails, phone calls, and paperwork.
Adjust events based on client feedback and needs, prepare backup or emergency plans, and ensure client satisfaction.
Set up, break down, and clean before and after events while following cleanliness and safety standards.
Help customers locate products and provide solutions; deliver a fast, friendly checkout experience.
Explain Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card benefits, complete enrollments, and educate customers about the Voice of Customer survey.
Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes.
Participate in truck unloading, stocking, planogram processes, SISO, and AD set duties as assigned.
Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance and support shrink and safety programs.
Follow standard operating procedures, company programs, policies, and standards.
Interact respectfully and positively with customers and coworkers and serve as a role model for company values.
Cross-train in Custom Framing sales and production.
Participate in daily store cleanliness activities, including sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom upkeep.
Perform other duties as assigned.
