The Party and Event Host plans, coordinates, and facilitates events—including children’s birthday parties, craft classes, and other activities—at a Michaels store. The role creates a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests of all ages by demonstrating and teaching craft projects, performing face painting, coordinating add-ons, communicating with clients and store team members, and adapting plans to feedback or changing needs. Hosts handle event administration, prepare backup plans, maintain client satisfaction, and set up, break down, and clean event areas. The position also supports the store’s customer-service and retail operations. Duties include helping customers find products and solutions, providing friendly checkout, promoting loyalty and credit-card programs, supporting online pickup and ship-from-store processes, and assisting with stocking, truck unloading, merchandise recovery, and store cleanliness. The host follows company policies and safety standards, supports shrink-prevention programs, and is cross-trained in custom framing sales and production. This is a part-time position in a public retail store. The work environment is climate controlled in public areas, while some stock rooms may not be; occasional outdoor work may be assigned. Work hours include nights, weekends, and early mornings. The role may involve lifting and moving boxes, using a ladder or similar equipment, and working near a glass cutter and heat press in the frame shop. Base pay is $13.00–$15.30 per hour, with possible eligibility for overtime compensation under applicable laws.
