Parts Specialist
About The Position
The Parts Specialist provides retail and installer customers with a high level of service and supports store management in completing assigned tasks. The role involves assisting customers in person and by phone, processing transactions and returns, maintaining merchandise and inventory, and completing operational duties. After completing relevant training and meeting company requirements, the specialist may operate store test equipment and provide certain in-store vehicle services where permitted by law. The role may occasionally require driving a delivery vehicle when business needs dictate and the employee meets company driving eligibility requirements. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply. Requirements
- Ability to quickly match alphanumeric sequences.
- Ability to provide outstanding, friendly, and professional customer service.
- Ability to multitask while handling customers on the phone and in the store at the same time.
- For occasional delivery driving, a driving record that meets company-mandated eligibility requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with automotive parts, cataloging, the Weatherly index system, and automotive sales or service.
- ASE certification.
- Fluency in multiple languages; Spanish is highly desired.
Responsibilities
- Follow and promote company customer service programs, including Hi-5, Low Price Guarantee, Rock the Call, Related Selling, and Rock the Lot.
- Greet retail and walk-in customers courteously and help them select merchandise.
- Assist managers and installer service specialists in serving professional customers as needed and directed.
- Complete company training relevant to the position.
- Answer store phone calls according to company policy; look up parts and quote prices accurately, recommend premium and related items, and offer the Low-Price Guarantee.
- Maintain and secure the cash drawer; accept cash and checks, make change accurately, and process credit card transactions.
- Process exchanges and returns for credit in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
- Assist with daily image-maker and planogram updates, freight receiving, stocking, facing, and cleaning.
- Prepare new, core, and warranty merchandise returns for shipment to the distribution center; assist with stock adjustments and inventory cycle counts.
- Operate the brake lathe and other store test equipment after completing corresponding training and meeting company requirements.
- Perform permitted in-store customer services, such as installing wipers, testing and charging batteries, testing charging systems, scanning vehicle trouble codes, and replacing headlight capsules.
- Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle when business needs dictate, subject to company driving eligibility requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
