About The Position

HMGMA is the abbreviation of Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America. It is Hyundai Motor Group's first dedicated EV mass-production plant and is an innovative plant with cutting-edge production technology applied. The Parts Development Interior & Exterior Manager will understand program sourcing and key milestones in support of launch. This role will identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, determine price, and select suppliers with Engineering and/or other relevant teams. The manager will select, develop, and manage the supply base of assigned commodities. They will develop all assigned commodities with sourced suppliers meeting all required specifications and timing. This role will evaluate and provide guidance on the final selection of suppliers, assessing supplier core competencies and cost competitiveness using HKMC and industry “should-cost” models. The manager will direct, manage, and guide suppliers from “cradle to grave” through HMG’s established Parts Development process and activities. They will develop and achieve target quality levels at each milestone from the development phase leading to mass production and establish improvement plans/countermeasures for problematic parts/suppliers or any relevant issues that impact Quality and Delivery. This role will drive flawless launches at assigned supplier sites, collaborating with cross-functional teams through adherence to ISIR (PPAP), proactively detecting and promptly responding to any significant issues related to delivery, cost, and quality. The manager will hold effective working-level meetings with suppliers/partners for fast issue closure and relationship development. They will continuously negotiate with suppliers for the best-in-class piece price and tooling cost to achieve target vehicle cost and develop purchasing strategies with Engineering, Quality, Production, and other relevant teams. Other responsibilities include monitoring and supporting the prevention of disruptions in the supply chain to avoid impact to HMGMA, working collaboratively with Engineering (R&D), Quality, and Production Planners, planning, organizing, and disseminating information related to production/potential suppliers, and maintaining an up-to-date supply base information database. This role will also hire, develop, train, and manage a number of buyers, and meet all other requirements as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance or Accounting or related field from accredited university
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites, especially Excel and PowerPoint, required.
  • Strong command of the English language (written and spoken) is essential for safety, communication, documentation, and collaboration across the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 5 years of related job experience
  • Years of experience from Automotive industry in Purchasing, APQP, PPAP, Supplier Development/Engineering, Launch, Program Management, or related fields strongly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing process including, but not limited to, injection molding, press, stamping, die casting, welding, assembly, paint, chroming and other surface treatments, foaming, cut & sew, SMC, extrusion, SMT, various raw materials, and more.
  • Experience with cockpit module, seat assembly, HVAC systems preferred.
  • Experience from OEM or major commodity suppliers strongly preferred.
  • Experience in understanding, analyzing, and breaking down piece price.
  • Bilingual preferred – Ability to read, write, and speak any two combinations of English, Korean, and/or Spanish fluently.

Responsibilities

  • Understand program sourcing and key milestone in support of launch.
  • Identify potential suppliers, analyze capabilities, determine price, and select suppliers with Engineering and/or other relevant teams.
  • Select, develop, and manage supply base of assigned commodities by preparing and owning RFI’s, RFP’s and RFQ's for multi-year full production volume.
  • Prepare bid packages, perform bidder conference, analyze, evaluate proposals, negotiate with, and recommend suppliers, and administer resulting contracts.
  • Negotiate long term agreements and maintain best-in-class pricing.
  • Lead cost reduction activities.
  • Develop all assigned commodities with sourced supplier meeting all required specification and timing.
  • Evaluate and provide guidance on final selection of suppliers.
  • Assess supplier core competencies and cost competitiveness using HKMC and industry “should-cost” models.
