About The Position

The Parts Coordinator assists the Shop Manager and, when applicable, Equipment Cleaning with management of parts and inventory. The role helps maintain high-quality standards at Highway Transport’s Maintenance and Cleaning Facilities by using the inventory system to maximize parts usage and minimize unused inventory. The position is based in La Porte, Houston, Texas, and offers a pay range of $20.25–$30.76.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license.
Personal liability insurance coverage at or above the legal minimum requirements in the employee’s state of residence.
Ability to use computers for inventory, recordkeeping, and parts information.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

Ensure work orders are entered and processed accurately.
Review vendor invoices and track charges to ensure they are correct.
Maintain an adequate, organized inventory of parts used by technicians for repairs and preventive maintenance.
Learn new technology related to tractor-trailer maintenance and repair and associated parts.
Monitor vendors for proper pricing and serviceability.
Prepare and ship parts to outlying facilities as needed.
Monitor parts usage rates and adjust inventory as needed.
Perform daily cycle counts of maintenance parts.
Advise the Shop Manager of issues involving parts, parts inventory, or other matters.
Operate a forklift to move and load parts.
Maintain inventory security and analyze parts quality.
