About The Position

With women's rights at its core, UN Women leads and coordinates efforts across the United Nations System, ensuring that commitments to gender equality translate into impactful actions. The Strategic Partnerships Division (SPD) enhances UN Women's role as a key partner for gender equality and women's empowerment. By strategically positioning gender equality in international forums and engaging with governments, SPD aims to strengthen partnerships, advocate for policy integration, and mobilize resources holistically. SPD is organized into two sections: Public Partnerships Section (PPS) and Private Sector Partnerships (PSP). The Partnerships Consultant will be situated in the Public Partnerships Section, which works to strengthen UN Women’s position as a partner of choice for gender equality and the empowerment of women among governments and inter-governmental actors around the world. Under the overall supervision of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist, the Partnerships Consultant will coordinate external relations and provide technical inputs and coordination support for the partnership portfolio of an assigned group of countries as well as support in the collation, analysis, and development of partner intelligence.

Requirements

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields: international relations, political science, communications, international development, business/public administration, women's studies or another relevant technical field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in one of the following areas is required: public affairs, programme management, resource mobilization, external relations, business development or other relevant area.
  • Experience working with international institutions or Government partners is required.
  • Fluency in English is required.

  • Experience with statistical software, data visualization and reporting is an asset

  • Knowledge of any other UN official language is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and coordination support on external relationship management and overall partnership of assigned funding partner portfolio, working within a portfolio cluster(s).
  • Implement the work plan for assigned area, in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results, in accordance with UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2026-2029.
  • Develop and maintain deep knowledge and familiarity with partners and relevant stakeholders including on global trends in development cooperation and aid, research partner development policies, budgets, systems and procedures, contributing to UN Women’s base of knowledge on partnership and resource mobilization.
  • Maintain contacts with officials of missions to the UN and departments of assigned funding governments to promote, advocate, mobilize and influence cooperation with UN Women to ensure the Entity’s resource base and the attainment of its outcomes and outputs.
  • Seek and promote new partnerships and resource mobilization, working with UN Women colleagues to identify partnership and resource mobilization needs and broker resource mobilization agreements to meet those needs.
  • Prepare draft briefing materials, including talking points, background notes, presentations, and meeting summaries for donor engagements and missions.
  • Collaborate in the preparation and follow-up of donor meetings, including coordinating inputs, organizing logistics, and tracking action points.
  • Provide technical support to Regional, Country, and thematic leads including overall donor-funded project management cycle and donor liaison support and linking them with key donors under portfolio for funding support.
  • Collaborate with Communication/Coordination and Programme to support the identification and development of partnership opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of funding forecasts and analytical summaries, including basic trend analysis, to support internal planning and decision-making.
  • Analyze and compile donor engagement data, funding trends, and pipeline information to support the identification of key insights and priorities for resource mobilization.
  • Collaborate with communications and programme teams on the development of knowledge and visibility products, including impact reports and donor-facing materials.
  • Participate in internal meetings and coordination processes, providing updates and inputs as required.
  • Support with other partnerships, advocacy, and resource mobilization needs of the PPS team, as necessary.
  • Provide technical support to Regional, Country, and thematic leads including overall donor-funded project management cycle and donor liaison support and linking them with key donors under portfolio for funding support.
