About The Position

This position is for a Part-Time Professor to teach the Professional Skills and Responsibility course (ELG5301) during the 2027 Winter Semester. The course involves a series of workshops focused on professional development, featuring guest speakers, team-based learning modules, and activities sponsored by the Faculty of Engineering’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design and the University Career Center. It also includes required modules on academic writing, plagiarism, and conducting literature reviews.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of the course subject matter, demonstrated by relevant publications or experience.
  • Significant experience mentoring technical people with advanced degrees.
  • Ability to provide students with experiences that build up their technical skills, their soft skills (communication, teamwork, project management) and their professional networks.
  • Doctorate relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Professional work experience in their field after obtaining their doctorate.

Nice To Haves

  • An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the Professional Skills and Responsibility course (ELG5301).
  • Attend tutorials (in-person, virtual) at least one hour per week on average.
  • Mentor technical people with advanced degrees.
  • Provide students with experiences that build their technical skills, soft skills (communication, teamwork, project management), and professional networks.
