About The Position

This position is for a Part-Time Professor teaching Professional Skills and Responsibility (ELG5301) during the Fall 2026 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Engineering. The course involves a series of workshops focused on professional development, featuring guest speakers, team-based learning modules, and activities sponsored by the Faculty's Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Design and the University Career Center. It will also include required modules on academic writing, plagiarism, and conducting literature reviews.

Requirements

Expert knowledge of the course subject matter, demonstrated by relevant publications or experience.
Significant experience mentoring technical people with advanced degrees.
Doctorate relevant to electrical engineering.
Professional work experience in their field after obtaining their doctorate.
Ability to provide students with experiences that build up their technical skills, their soft skills (communication, teamwork, project management) and their professional networks.

Responsibilities

Teach Professional Skills and Responsibility (ELG5301).
Attend tutorials (in-person, virtual) at least one hour per week on average.
