About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applications for a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool in Psychology. This pool is used to identify applicants for part-time faculty assignments as course needs arise throughout the academic year, including substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to community economic development. The department is looking for individuals to join their learning community and play a vital role in educating students.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or higher, in Psychology (including all specialized degrees with Psychology in the title of the degree).
  • OR Master’s degree, or higher, in Counseling (including specialties in MFT, MFCC, CMF).
  • OR Master’s degree, or higher, in a Related Area.
  • Completion of 30 quarter-hours of graduate credit in a Psychology or Counseling Department.
  • Related Areas include, but are not limited to: Cognitive Science, Human Science, Neuroscience, Social or Human Ecology, Social Work, Human Development.
  • For PSY 236 (Psychology of Adult Development & Aging): Meet general instructor qualifications for Psychology OR Master’s degree in Gerontology AND at least 30 graduate credit hours in Psychology and/or Human Development.
  • Academic credentials must be earned at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • Official transcripts are required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Must be able to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.

Nice To Haves

  • The Program Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department Chair (and/or screening committee), will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of these lists.
  • The SAC may recommend a Master’s degree outside of these qualifications for a special-topic course.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned Psychology courses, which may include lecture, lab, or lecture/lab formats.
  • Potentially cover substitute assignments or full-term class assignments.
  • List current PCC courses that you would be able to teach as part of the application.
