About The Position

Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Chemistry. This is an interest pool, and the department will review applications as the need arises for new part-time faculty. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments. The department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or higher) in the subject area OR Master’s degree (or higher) in a related area PLUS 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area.
  • Subject Area degrees include (but are not limited to): Chemistry, Chemical Education, Biochemistry.
  • Related Area degrees include (but are not limited to): Agricultural Chemistry, Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Petroleum Engineering, Pharmacology, Physical Sciences, Toxicology.
  • Provisional Approval: An instructor without a Masters or Doctorate may be approved if they have 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area and are actively pursuing the degree and are anticipated to be awarded the degree within six months of hire, as determined by the instructor’s graduate advisor (a letter from the advisor will be required and kept on file).
  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
  • Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard.
  • Must be able to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
