About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in History. This pool is used to identify potential candidates for part-time faculty assignments, including substitute and full-term class roles, as the need arises during the academic year. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to community economic development. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in History.
  • For specialty courses: Master’s degree in a related area (e.g., American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Russian and Eastern European Studies, Latin American Studies, Women’s Studies, Black Studies, American Indian Studies, or Holocaust and Genocide Studies).
  • Thirty (30) quarter graduate credits in History.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • For foreign credentials, transcripts must be evaluated by an agency in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned History courses, which may include substitute or full-term assignments.
  • Develop and deliver course content aligned with PCC's History program standards.
  • Engage with students in a collaborative and inspiring campus community.
  • Contribute to a learning environment that embraces equity and inclusion.
