About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Ethnic Studies. This is not an announcement for a specific open position, but rather a pool from which the department will identify candidates as needs arise for course assignments during the academic year. Applications may be considered for both substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses, workforce training centers, and community locations. The college's mission is to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to community economic development.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Ethnic Studies OR
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Asian American Studies, Black Studies, Chicanx Studies, Native American Studies OR
  • Master’s Degree or PhD in any field plus a clear record of academic coursework, teaching, and/or publication in the field of Ethnic Studies such as:
  • Instructor of record for two or more college-level courses in Ethnic Studies; or
  • Primary author of two or more publications in the field of Ethnic Studies; or
  • At least 15 quarter credits or the equivalent of upper division or graduate coursework in Ethnic Studies; or
  • Master’s Thesis or Dissertation employing an interdisciplinary approach to the study of race and/or ethnicity in the United States; or
  • Demonstrated engagement and ongoing commitment to Ethnic Studies programs, courses, and pedagogy.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
