About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Ethnic Studies. This is not an announcement for a specific open position, but rather a pool from which the department will identify candidates as needs arise for course assignments during the academic year. Applications may be considered for both substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses, workforce training centers, and community locations. The college's mission is to make high-quality education accessible and contribute to community economic development.

Requirements

Master’s degree or PhD in Ethnic Studies OR
Master’s degree or PhD in Asian American Studies, Black Studies, Chicanx Studies, Native American Studies OR
Master’s Degree or PhD in any field plus a clear record of academic coursework, teaching, and/or publication in the field of Ethnic Studies such as:
Instructor of record for two or more college-level courses in Ethnic Studies; or
Primary author of two or more publications in the field of Ethnic Studies; or
At least 15 quarter credits or the equivalent of upper division or graduate coursework in Ethnic Studies; or
Master’s Thesis or Dissertation employing an interdisciplinary approach to the study of race and/or ethnicity in the United States; or
Demonstrated engagement and ongoing commitment to Ethnic Studies programs, courses, and pedagogy.
Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
