About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applications for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Chicano/Latino Studies. This pool is for potential part-time faculty assignments, including substitute and full-term class assignments, as the need arises during the academic year. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses and multiple centers. The college is committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to economic development. Applicants should be prepared to list current PCC courses they are qualified to teach. Requirements

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies OR Master’s degree in any field AND 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies OR Master’s degree in any field AND 9-15 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 4 introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses, OR Master’s degree in any field AND 16-29 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 2 introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • For foreign credentials, transcripts must be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Nice To Haves

  • The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department chair will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of this list.
  • The Department Chair can determine the applicability of a particular degree to teaching a specific CHLA course.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses.
