About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applications for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Chicano/Latino Studies. This pool is for potential part-time faculty assignments, including substitute and full-term class assignments, as the need arises during the academic year. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across four campuses and multiple centers. Requirements

Master’s degree or PhD in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies OR Master’s degree in any field AND 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies OR Master’s degree in any field AND 9-15 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 4 introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses, OR Master’s degree in any field AND 16-29 quarter hours of graduate credit in Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies, Ethnic Studies, Cultural Studies, American Studies, Latin American Studies PLUS experience as lead instructor for at least 2 introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses.
Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees.
Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
For foreign credentials, transcripts must be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Nice To Haves

The Division Dean, in consultation with the Faculty Department chair will make a recommendation to the Dean of Instruction about the applicability of a particular degree that is outside the scope of this list.
The Department Chair can determine the applicability of a particular degree to teaching a specific CHLA course.

Responsibilities

Teach introductory college-level Chicano/Latino/Hispanic Studies courses.
Potentially teach substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.
