About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool in Early Childhood Education at the Sylvania Campus. This pool is used to identify applicants for course assignments as the need arises during the academic year, including substitute and full-term class assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to economic development. The program focuses on Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Home Economics (HEC) courses.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies, Human Development, Public Policy, Child Development, Early Education, Human Services, Family Studies, Developmental Psychology, Curriculum and Instruction, Marriage and Family Therapy, Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education, Adult Education, Adult Learning, Education, Early Childhood Studies, Family Studies and Human Services, Human Ecology, Child Psychology, Infant and Family Development, Child Life, Dual Language/Bilingual Education, Educational Studies, Reading and Literacy, Counseling, or Teaching.
  • Master’s degree must include a minimum of 30 quarter credits of coursework in early childhood education.
  • Three years, full-time equivalent, recent work experience (within the last 10 years) in the field, specifically working with children ages infant through preschool and/or families in the field of early care and education.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • Transcripts from foreign institutions will require evaluation by an agency in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Early Childhood Education (ECE) and Home Economics (HEC) courses, with the exception of ECE 234, provided the instructor meets the qualifications.
  • Identify current PCC courses that the applicant is qualified to teach.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and inspiring campus community.
  • Embrace and promote equity and inclusion within the college community and in service to students.
