About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool for the Developmental Education program. This pool is used to identify applicants for course assignments as needs arise during the academic year, including substitute and full-term class assignments. The Developmental Education program aims to provide high-quality education and create opportunities for students, contributing to the economic development of the community. Applicants should be passionate about teaching and supporting underprepared students. The application will ask candidates to list PCC courses they are qualified to teach.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in an appropriate educational field (e.g., special/developmental/adult education, reading, writing, math, or English) AND experience working with underprepared students (DE Math or English).
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate educational field (e.g., special/developmental/adult education, reading, writing, or English) AND three years equivalent full-time teaching experience in reading, writing, or English within grade 9 through adult (DE English).
  • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Math, Math Education, or an appropriate educational field (e.g., special/developmental/adult education) with a math emphasis AND three years equivalent full-time teaching experience in mathematics within grade 6 through adult (DE Math).
  • Must be able to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts required within 2 weeks of offer date for required degrees.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution with equivalent accreditation.
  • For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
