About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Faculty Interest Pool for its Addiction Counseling Program. This pool is used to identify applicants for course assignments as needs arise during the academic year, including substitute and full-term assignments. PCC is the largest post-secondary institution in Oregon, serving approximately 80,000 students across multiple campuses and centers. The college is committed to making high-quality education accessible and contributing to community economic development. The Addiction Counseling Program offers courses such as Introduction to Addiction Counseling, Pharmacology and Addiction, Ethics in Addiction Counseling, Cultural Humility in Counseling, Risk Assessment & Reduction, Addiction Counseling, Addiction Group Counseling, and Introduction to Motivational Interviewing.

Requirements

  • A Bachelors degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline AND be a current Certified Addiction Counselor Level II (or equivalent) or a current Certified Prevention Specialist (or equivalent) AND have a minimum of five years of experience working with chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations.
  • OR A Masters degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline AND have a minimum of five years working with chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations.
  • OR A Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, human service, human development, sociology, social work or related discipline or a clinical doctorate degree (MD or DO only) AND at least one year of working with the chemically or behaviorally addicted or at risk populations or as a researcher in the arena of behavior and/or neuroscience.
  • Ability to establish residence in Oregon or Washington.
  • Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.
  • Academic credentials must be from a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation.
  • For credentials from other countries, transcripts will be evaluated by agencies in good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses within the Addiction Counseling Program, including but not limited to: AD 120 Introduction to Addiction Counseling, AD 121 Pharmacology and Addiction, AD 122 Ethics in Addiction Counseling, AD 124 Cultural Humility in Counseling, AD 140 Risk Assessment & Reduction, AD 142 Addiction Counseling, AD 143 Addiction Group Counseling, and AD 144 Introduction to Motivational Interviewing.
  • Be available for substitute assignments as well as full-term class assignments.
