About The Position

Montgomery College is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated part-time faculty to teach Accounting at its Rockville campus. The ideal candidate will exhibit high professionalism, a strong commitment to student success, and the ability to engage students effectively in both classroom and virtual environments. This is a continuous application process, with applications reviewed periodically based on student enrollment needs. Part-time faculty are limited in the number of credit hours they can teach per semester and academic year.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Accounting or Business.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) licensure.
  • Willingness to teach classes ON-SITE at any of the three Montgomery College campuses or off-campus locations.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and fingerprinting.
  • Current skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
  • Commitment to promoting belonging, inclusion, and multicultural competence.

  • Access to a personal computer with virus protection that can connect to the internet outside of the work location.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without a sponsor.

  • Successful completion of a background check and degree verification (if applicable) at the time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A Doctorate in Accounting or Business.
  • Experience in U.S. Personal and Corporate Taxation and/or Auditing.
  • Five (5) or more years of full-time accounting work experience.
  • Familiarization with accounting, tax, audit, and AI software.
  • Three (3) or more years of teaching experience.
  • Face-to-face and distance teaching experience.
  • Familiarity with teaching technologies (learning platforms, homework managers, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Teach Accounting courses.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in department and college activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with teaching methodologies.
  • Cover and/or substitute for part-time and/or temporary openings in the department.
  • Design and coordinate course content in coordination with the Accounting curriculum.
  • Provide effective classroom instruction using culturally relevant pedagogies and appropriate educational resources.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade all class assignments and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate and timely student records.
  • Provide timely and useful feedback to students.
  • Maintain regular office hours.
  • Assist and advise students on their degree plans.
  • Assess student learning by administering discipline-specific assessments.
  • Participate in special paid program activities, including curriculum and program planning, development, evaluation, and decision-making.
  • Develop new teaching-learning methods and materials.
  • Participate in departmental and college professional training activities.
  • Maintain currency and depth of knowledge in assigned areas.
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Communicate with excellent written and oral skills in English.
