About The Position

Parking Enforcement Workers monitor areas across campus to ensure the availability of parking and the safety of those entering and exiting campus lots by upholding University Parking regulations. They provide information on parking regulations and available parking options, patrol assigned areas of campus to identify parking violations and illegally parked vehicles, and issue parking tickets and/or warnings. This role also involves inspecting roadways, parking areas, and signage for safety issues or disrepair, and reporting them as necessary. Additionally, workers may direct traffic during special events or emergencies and operate various equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be a current Penn State student.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check.
  • Must successfully complete background check(s) in accordance with University policies.

  • Ability to identify vehicles and bicycles parked in violation of parking rules and regulations.
  • Ability to identify vehicles designated for towing.
  • Ability to identify and tag unregistered and dilapidated bicycles.

  • Ability to assemble barricades and set up cones.
  • Ability to inspect roadways, parking lots, signage, etc. for safety issues and/or disrepair.

  • Ability to operate equipment such as handheld computer/printers, two-way radios, cameras, power grinders and bolt cutters.

Responsibilities

  • Provide information on parking regulations and available parking options.
  • Patrol assigned area of campus to identify parking violations and illegally parked vehicles.
  • Issue parking tickets and/or warnings for vehicles and bicycles parked in violation of parking rules and regulations.
  • Identify vehicles and bicycles designated for towing or impounding.
  • Contact towing services and report vehicle information to University Police.
  • Tag unregistered and dilapidated bicycles.
  • Assemble barricades and set up cones for events and special parking arrangements.
  • Inspect roadways, parking lots, signage, etc. for safety issues and/or disrepair and report issues.
  • Place barricades or cones as necessary to maintain a safe environment.
  • Direct pedestrian and vehicular traffic within parking lots during special events or an emergency.
  • Operate equipment such as handheld computer/printers, two-way radios, cameras, power grinders and bolt cutters.
